Department of Pharmacognosy
The research areas in Pharmacognosy are continually growing. Today it includes various aspects of cell and molecular biology in relation to natural products, ethnobotany and phytotherapy, in addition to the more traditional analytical method development and phytochemistry. Our department contributes for both research and teaching to understand novel approaches in this field such as combinatorial biosynthesis, genomics and proteomics. The major research area of interest is Pharmacognostical, phytochemical and various pharmacological activities of some indigenous medicinal and herbal plants.
